Moses Isegawa was born in Cawente, northern Uganda, in 1963. He spent ten years in the seminary. After contravening the strict censorship rules, he was expelled in 1984. He took a course to become a secondary school teacher, subsequently teaching for four years. In 1990 he left the country for Holland to pursue his dream to become a writer. In 1998 he published the highly acclaimed Abyssinian Chronicles, a novel about Uganda, which was translated into seventeen languages. His second novel Snakepit, was translated into nine languages.
