On 29th July 1940 he received a telegram ordering him to report to HQ for
Contingent Interview. A second telegram dated 13 August invited him to
report at 09.30 to CPRC HQ and to bring all CPRC Kit and Equipment. I have
a document marked SECRET from the HQ of the Ceylon Defence Force. This
states that 25 members of the CPRC will be sent to Bangalore Cadet College.
Thirty volunteers, between the ages of 19 and 30, were to be interviewed.
Their employer's permission to go should be obtained and they should be fit
and preferably unmarried. Their minimum pay would be Rs 445 with an outfit
