"We took with us the photograph of our family who lived in Colombo in 1900 and showed it to residents (I am attaching this for your archive). Not only did we find the porch on which the photograph was taken, but were invited in to see the house which contains much of its original lay out and features.
The bungalow was build around a central courtyard which contained a stone sink and drainage for washing. Around the courtyard was a trelissed corridor from which all the rooms of the house could be found."
