Iranganie Gunatillake & 'Her Majesty' Mrs Iranganie Gunatillake, receptionist at the Ceylon Tea Centre in London, flew to Glasgow last month to meet the Queen. 1967. The occasion was the visit by Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh to the new administrative building of the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society. Mrs Gunatillake showed the Queen a photographic display on the Ceylon Tea industry and a panel claiming that the SCWS supplies one third of all the tea consumed in Scotland. A reference was also made to the happy coincidence that the centenary of the SCWS corresponds closely to that of the Ceylon Tea Industry. Photo: courtesy Scottish Daily Record.
