Thomas Keneally is a multiple award-winning Australian novelist, playwright and author of non-fiction. He was short listed for the Booker Prize four times, before he finally won with perhaps the novel for which he is most famous, Schindler?s Ark. This was later adapted for the screen by Steven Spielberg in the form of the Oscar winning film, Schindler?s List. He was also the recipient of the Miles Franklin Award for his depiction of Australian life in his novels, Bring Larks and Heroes (1967) and Three Cheers for the Paraclete (1968). Thomas Keneally was awarded the Order of Australia in 1983 for his services to Australian Literature.
