The trip adviser was Lyn Andrado who had been there before with Aloy Perera making wild life films. the year was 1953 & the NE monsoon started early—back then a ferry just beyond the A Bay resthouse connected the road to Panama village. The river had risen so much that the ferry had stopped running but we bribed the operators to take us over but they could not berth at the usual ramp as the water was over it—so I had to drive the jeep off at a steep downward angle into the water whereupon the stuff packed in the back incl a large bucket shot forward & hit the back of my head. We drove off but there is a bridge & causeway before Panama & that was impassable so we spent the nite in a school."
