I was then 17 & a member of the Photographic Society of Ceylon which gave members a showy m’ship card to enable them to buy film in times of rationing. I had a ticket for the day to a public enclosure but used the m’ship card^& TONS of brass to pose as a press photographer of which there were stacks (many from o’seas) –& thus got right into  the action. I knew my pics would have historic significance one day!!!<br />
